Yes. Every label on the banner can be changed, so it uses your own wording, and the banner shows in each visitor’s language. For a language GrantCookie does not ship, you can write its labels yourself.
Changing the wording
Every label can be changed, so the banner uses your own wording. Our cookie consent banner page gives this example of a set of labels:
- Title: We Use Cookies
- Message: We use cookies to run the site and, only if you agree, to measure our marketing.
- Accept button: Accept all
- Reject button: Reject all
- Save button: Save Choices
The banner has a switch for each category: necessary, preferences (functional), analytics and marketing. Each category says in plain words what it is for.
How the language is chosen
The banner shows in the visitor’s language. To do this, the service uses the language setting that the visitor’s browser sends with each request. That technical data is not added to the consent record. For a language we do not ship, you write its labels yourself.
Checking your text
You decide what the banner says in each language, and you are responsible for the accuracy of your banner copy and translations. Our terms say you must not configure the banner so that it misleads visitors, for example by describing a category inaccurately or by using consent given in the banner for a purpose the banner did not describe. The default banner text and categories are not legal advice.
Each consent record keeps the version of the banner the visitor was shown, which ties the record to the text and categories they were presented with. The log shows what each visitor was asked, not only what they answered.
Banner customisation is basic on Free and full on Growth and Scale. The pricing page compares the plans. For a question about your banner, write to support@grantcookie.com.
