Create a free account, configure the banner, then paste one script tag into the head of every page of your site, before your analytics tags. Once the tag is in place, the banner is live and consent is logged.
Three steps to a live banner
- Create your account. Sign-up is free and needs no card.
- Configure the banner. Pick a layout, set your colours and choose which privacy laws apply to your site.
- Add the tag. Copy your tag from the GrantCookie app and paste it into the head of your site, before your analytics tags. If you start from the example tag in one of our set-up guides, replace its example site ID with the ID of your site in the GrantCookie app.
Where the tag goes on each platform
- WordPress: in the theme head, before your analytics tags.
- Shopify: in the head of theme.liquid, before your analytics tags.
- Wix: added through Custom Code, set to load in the head, before your analytics tags.
- Any other site: through Google Tag Manager or the JavaScript API. The script works with React, Vue, Angular, Svelte, Next, Nuxt or plain HTML. See integrations.
Tags the banner can control
The banner can apply a visitor’s choice only to tags and scripts that are installed as our documentation describes. Tags installed in any other way may set cookies regardless of what the visitor chose. The GrantCookie tag itself loads asynchronously, so it does not block your page from rendering.
Domains and plans
A domain goes live when you connect it in the GrantCookie application and add the banner script to the head of its pages. Install the script only on domains you have connected and have the right to control. Free covers one domain, Growth covers five and Scale covers unlimited domains.
